THE ANNA LINDH PRIZE
The Anna Lindh Memorial Fund was founded in the aftermath of Anna Lindh’s death with the aim to encourage and support those who, like Anna Lindh help others and strive for a more humane and just world. The Anna Lindh Prize is awarded annually to an individual, organisation or project working internationally. The Memorial Fund also awards grants to Swedish individuals and organisations. These grants aim to encourage projects in Anna Lindh’s spirit that are ongoing, or in their infancy.
The prize are awarded annually at a ceremony in connection with Anna Lindh’s birthday on the 19th of June.
The Prize aim to encourage primarily women and youth who, in Anna Lindh’s spirit, show the courage to work against indifference, prejudice, oppression and injustice in order to stimulate a society where human rights are respected. The Prize are awarded as encouragement for ongoing projects.
The Anna Lindh Memorial Fund does not award the Prize for future projects and it also has to engage in project goals related to the annual theme of the Anna Lindh Fund. Themes through the years can be found under Nominate a Candidate.
Closing date for nominations for 2018 is 15th of April. The theme is "Practical feminism in a globalized world".
After the closing date for nominations has passed, the Secretariat will make a first selection. Should we need further information from the person or organization who has nominated the project in question, we will contact the organization or individual. The Board of Directors makes a final selection of laureates for the Anna Lindh Prize.
